Mitski Logotype


BFA PROJECT ︎ SUMMER 2021

Logotype design project. Mitski Miyawaki is a Japanese-American singer-songwriter. Her indie and alternative rock sound pairs powerfully with lyrics reflecting on her struggles with identity, anxiety, and belonging. I wanted to create a logotype that captured both the romance and the heartbreak in her music. Thus, this bittersweet logotype was born. The curves and dramatic swoops of the slanted letterforms represent the love and tenderness of her music, while the piercing endpoints of the serifs illustrate her honesty and introspection.
